We're very excited to share the culmination of our work at the crossroads of art and environmental justice at the opening of Sinks: Places We Call Home this Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 5PM-8PM at the Luckman Gallery (inside the Luckman Arts Complex) on the campus of Cal State University, Los Angeles, as part of PST ART: Art & Science collide, presented by Getty! The exhibit is FREE and open to all ages. While walk-up guests are welcome, we highly encourage the public to RSVP. Paid parking is available on campus at parking Structure C (4 hours - $5/ All Day - $10). About the Exhibition
Sinks is curated by Marvella Muro with curatorial assistance by Ana Guajardo, as part of the Getty PST ART: Art & Science Collide initiative. This innovative exhibition - produced in partnership with artists Maru Garcia and Beatriz Jaramillo, the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, community scientists, and partners - highlights the environmental disparities created by manufacturing sites in two communities located near Self Help Graphics: the former Exide Battery plant in Vernon and former Athens Tank Farm (Exxon Mobil) site in Willowbrook. The exhibition elevates the voices and stories of the people who form these neighborhoods and informs audiences about land contamination and alternative solutions. Learn more about the exhibition at https://www.selfhelpgraphics.com/sinks. Save the dates!
