 RSVP NOCHE DE OFRENDA

Noche de Ofrenda proudly returns tonight Wednesday, November 2 from 6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at SHG! NDO honors the ancestors in a contemplative evening with live poetry and music, surrounded by numerous altars produced by artists and community partners. Attend the evening with family and friends, and enjoy the offerings of the season with Mexican hot chocolate and pan de muerto.

This year’s gathering includes Tina Calderon, performances by Gloria Alvarez and Greg Hernandez (pictured), Joy Anderson and Leather Tramp; as well as tributes to late artists Amos and Noni Olabisi.

Pictured right is a tiny replica tribute to muralist Noni Olabisi by Barbara Carrasco that reads “Gone To A Higher Level-N”, as part of an ofrenda by Yreina Cervantez at Self Help Graphics.

Noche de Ofrenda uplifts the spirit of our beloved and honors ancestors through the art and intention of the ofrendas with our central Community Altar created by SHG Legacy Artists and Master Altaristas, Ofelia Esparza, Rosanna Esparza Ahrens and the Esparza family!

We encourage you to bring a 4x6 photo of your loved one for our community altar that you can place in a frame and embellish on site (while supplies last). *Please remember to bring copy of a photo of your beloved, not the actual images.

Listen to this lovely tribute to Ofelia by KPCC/LAist Studios that mentions Noche de Ofrenda, recorded recently at Self Help Graphics. Check out these fun Día de los Muertos videos and activities for the kids here, in collaboration with PBS SoCal.
